Bengals Qb Inks Record Breaking 275 Million Contract

Burrow Named NFL's Highest-Paid Player

Bengals QB Inks Record-Breaking $275 Million Contract

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has made history as the NFL's highest-paid player. On Thursday, he agreed to a five-year, $275 million contract extension that will keep him with the Bengals through 2028.

The deal includes a $100 million signing bonus, according to ESPN, and will pay Burrow an average of $55 million per year. This surpasses the previous record set by Aaron Rodgers in March 2022, who signed a three-year, $150 million extension with the Green Bay Packers.

Contract Details

Burrow's contract includes the following key details:

  • Five-year, $275 million extension
  • $100 million signing bonus
  • $55 million average annual salary
  • 2024 base salary: $29,504,000
  • 2024 cap hit: $29,504,000
  • 2024 dead cap value: $29,504,000

The contract also includes a no-trade clause and a provision that allows Burrow to void the deal if he is traded.

Burrow's new contract is a testament to his status as one of the NFL's rising stars. The 26-year-old quarterback led the Bengals to the Super Bowl last season, where they lost to the Los Angeles Rams. He was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 after returning from a torn ACL suffered in 2020.
