Manchester City Reach Champions League Final After 4-0 Win Over Real Madrid

City Dominate Madrid To Reach Final

Manchester City have reached the Champions League final after a 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final tie. Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick in the second half sealed the win for City, who will now face Chelsea in the final in Istanbul on May 29.

City were in control from the start and took the lead in the 11th minute. Riyad Mahrez played a one-two with Phil Foden on the left and then crossed for Gabriel Jesus to head home. The goal was checked by VAR for offside, but it was eventually given.

City continued to dominate the match and had several chances to extend their lead. Foden hit the post in the 25th minute and Jesus had a goal ruled out for offside in the 40th minute.

Real Madrid had few chances in the first half, but they improved after the break. Karim Benzema had a great chance to equalize in the 55th minute, but he headed wide from close range.

City sealed the win in the 76th minute when De Bruyne scored a stunning free-kick from 25 yards. The Belgian's effort flew into the top corner of the net, giving Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois no chance.

City continued to press for more goals and added a fourth in the 90th minute. Foden played a through ball to Raheem Sterling, who rounded Courtois and slotted the ball into the empty net.

The win was a deserved one for City, who were the better team throughout the tie. They will now be confident of beating Chelsea in the final and winning their first Champions League title.

Reaction

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was delighted with his team's performance.

"We played a really good game," he said. "We were very aggressive and we created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I'm very happy with the win."

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane was disappointed with his team's performance.

"We didn't play well enough," he said. "We made too many mistakes and we didn't create enough chances. We have to learn from this and come back stronger next season."
