On the eve of the 78th Indian Independence Day, people across the country painted their faces in the colors of the Indian national flag, showing their patriotism and love for their nation. In Amritsar, artist Dr Jagjot Singh made a 7ft by 5ft hand-made painting of US President Joe Biden, ahead of the G20 Summit being hosted by India this year in New Delhi.
One of Dr Singh's most loved and critically acclaimed paintings is "Bharat Mata," which depicts the personification of India as a mother goddess. The theme or slogan for the 78th Indian Independence Day Celebrations has not yet been announced.
In Mumbai, the Iconic Gateway of India was lit in the colors of the tricolor national flag to mark Independence Day.
