Lucas Digne Signs for Besiktas on Loan

Loan Move to Turkey

French defender Lucas Digne has completed a loan move from Everton to Turkish club Besiktas until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favor at Goodison Park and has not played a Premier League game since early November.

Digne joined Everton from Barcelona in the summer of 2018 for a fee of around £18 million and has made 127 appearances for the club, scoring six goals.

Besiktas Ambitions

Besiktas are currently fourth in the Turkish Super Lig and are hopeful that Digne's experience and quality will help them push for a Champions League place.

Digne is a left-back who is known for his attacking ability and set-piece delivery.

He has been capped 46 times by France and was part of the squad that won the 2018 World Cup.

Everton's Defensive Options

Digne's departure leaves Everton short of options at left-back.

Vitaliy Mykolenko is the only other natural left-back in the squad, and manager Frank Lampard may have to consider playing a right-back, such as Seamus Coleman, out of position.

Everton have been linked with a move for Huddersfield Town's Harry Toffolo, but a deal has yet to be agreed.
